Personal Journey
Discovering my passion for accounting and personal growth
Hello! I’m Amasha, a part-qualified ACCA member, master’s student in Accounting and Business Intelligence, and a future Chartered Accountant in the making.
My journey into accounting began early, shaped by growing up in a business-oriented family and studying commerce during my GCE Ordinary Level exams. That foundation sparked a deeper passion for finance, leading me to specialise in accounting, financial reporting, and international taxation which areas I now find both intellectually engaging and globally relevant.
Currently, I’m completing my master’s degree in Accounting and Business Intelligence at Brunel University London, where I’ve had the chance to blend traditional accounting with digital innovation.
My favourite modules are Business Financial Technology and my Dissertation which have deepened my passion for how technology is reshaping the financial world. From learning the basics of Python programming and experimenting with AI prompts, to applying theory to real-world scenarios through tools like RapidMiner and Excel, I’ve found myself driven to explore the future of finance.
In my dissertation, I focused on my own family business in Sri Lanka, researching how technological advancements impact customer and supplier experiences. It was a proud moment, combining personal experience with academic insight and it reaffirmed my belief in tech-driven financial solutions.
